Description:
Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) oversees five long-term care facilities for veterans and various programs serving veterans. We have an opening for a Nurse Manager to function as a nurse consultant in our long-term care facilities.
This position provides assistance and training to the Nursing Departments for clinical and regulatory compliance and serves as a resource and problem solver.
Responsibilities:
- Review and provide training to ensure regulatory compliance including Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Affairs (VA) rules and regulations.
- Evaluate the clinical operations of the facilities.
- Train, educate, and coach facility nursing and related clinical personnel.
- Assist and support facility leadership in managing clinical operations.
- Work closely with the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OKVC) Deputy Director, Facility Administrators, and Nursing staff of each facility to ensure the highest level of care for our residents.
Additional Position Information:
- Long Term Care Clinical Operations background.
- Travel required monthly.
- Minimum Date Set (MDS) experience preferred.
- Experience as a Long Term Care Director of Nursing preferred.

Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of experience as a Registered Nurse, two years of which must be as a supervisor of nursing in long-term care, acute care, or public/community health setting.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in Nursing will substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a Registered Nurse will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be licensed in Kentucky as a Registered Nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
Working Conditions:
Works with patients, residents, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases, which requires following safety procedures.
Probationary Period:
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
