The Respiratory Unit is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our progressive and dynamic Acute Respiratory ward as a Ward Sister / Charge Nurse.

Our award-winning Respiratory Department has been instrumental in caring for patients with complex respiratory conditions, resulting in the development of a Respiratory High Care unit across the 8th Floor in line with the Trust's 'Fit for the Future' plans. Main duties of the job
Our successful Sister/Charge Nurse will work alongside the existing team in a leadership role to assist in the enhancement and development of Respiratory services, focusing on the delivery of high-quality care within a busy and acute environment. You will be in charge of the clinical shift and dedicated to ensuring the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high standards of care, embedding the Trust's behaviors and values.
Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for improvement and a commitment to team development. You will need to be calm and resilient, able to deal with challenging situations, providing support to junior team members and maintaining patient safety. Successful candidates will assist and support the ward manager to ensure effective ward management and deputize in their absence. Flexibility to work as part of a 24-hour service is essential.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and professionally leading the nursing team as a key member of the multidisciplinary workforce.
- Directly delivering and coordinating patient care; ensuring that the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care meets high standards, encompassing the Trust vision of best care for everyone.
- Ensuring that Trust local policies and procedures are known and adhered to, and that all duties are carried out in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Participating in Quality Improvement projects to assist with service development in line with Fit for the Future Plans.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of a professional portfolio, registration revalidation, and commitment to lifelong learning.
- Post Graduate teaching certificate or working towards one.
Experience
- Appropriate post-registration experience in Respiratory Nursing / High Dependency Care.
- Ability to effectively manage and lead a clinical shift, ensuring patient safety and high standards of care are maintained.
- Experience in risk assessment and audit.
- Experience in service development.
Knowledge/Skills
- Evidence of extensive clinical skills, including caring for patients requiring Non-invasive Ventilation.
- Acts as a role model and leads by example to ensure the Trust's Values and Behaviours are reinforced throughout their area of practice.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
