Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Housing, the Clinician I will provide as needed supportive mental health and substance use disorder counseling to residents experiencing homelessness. This position employs a variety of evidence-based interventions including Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Relapse Prevention and Trauma Informed Care to provide client centered services to survivors of human trafficking. Services will include intakes, biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans and reviews, referrals, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and coordination of care.
Qualifications, Essential Skills, and Experience Required:
- Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
- Education: Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling. A combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered.
- Licensure is a plus.
- Language: Proficiency in oral and written English required; Spanish preferred and other languages a plus (i.e. Creole).
- Skills: Computer literacy required (Word, Excel, other data entry programs).
- Two years’ experience with Veteran population, mental illness, and substance use disorders, and/or homelessness.
- Knowledge and commitment to evidence-based models such as Housing First, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, relapse prevention, and Trauma Informed Care.
- Ability to employ strong clinical judgement while setting firm boundaries.
- Experience with group facilitation.
- Strong assessment and diagnosis skills.
- Crisis intervention skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of veterans who may not be fully committed to abstinence or behavioral health treatment. Ensure they are connected swiftly and proactively to services that align with their needs and goals.
- Provide individual supportive counseling using evidence-based interventions such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Relapse Prevention, and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Ensure program safety by managing crisis situations and intervening with veterans when necessary.
- Collaborate with veterans to achieve permanent housing, increase income and benefits, and enhance self-determination.
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and discharge plans, ensuring they meet both the individual needs of veterans and program requirements.
- Coordinate services with Veterans Administration staff and other providers for integrated support.
- Ensure timely data collection and documentation in accordance with program deadlines.
- Provide referrals to community resources during discharge planning to support veterans in maintaining independent living.
- Facilitate rehabilitative and social skills activities, including psycho-educational and discussion groups, games, and physical activities.
- Actively participate in department, case conferencing, and program meetings as required.
- Participate in disaster planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
Non-Remote Position
- Full-time: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (i.e., Evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call), as needed.
