The Division of Hematology Biorepository seeks a Laboratory Specialist to conduct translational science protocols in the field of leukemia. This position will design, conduct, and analyze experiments on leukemia cell lines and patient samples, with emphasis on various flow cytometry protocols (spectral, imaging, traditional; immunophenotyping, apoptosis, and flow- FISH) and plate-based inhibitor screening. Much of this work is conducted with samples collected from patients with leukemia, and extreme attention to detail is required when working with these precious samples. Current projects include imaging cytometry to determine the molecular mechanism of action of an inhibitor in clinical trials for patients with myelofibrosis and the screening of mutations observed in patients to determine their effect on telomere length with flow- FISH. Other responsibilities include processing samples from clinical trial patients, which may include same-day assays or special storage protocols. The laboratory is in the Huntsman Cancer Institute Research North building at 2000 Circle of Hope. The position will be 100% on-site, with no remote work. Pay is at least $24.00/hour (~$50,000/year).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in biology or closely related field
- Two years of full-time post-baccalaureate laboratory experience
