Summary
Perform acupuncture services with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. Assure high level of professionalism with client interactions and rendering of acupuncture services.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient medical history, including patient’s lifestyle and diet is obtained prior to performing treatment.
- Personalized treatment plan is developed for the patient to achieve desired outcomes.
- Patient information and education is provided regarding the treatment plan and areas of question and concern are addressed to the patient’s satisfaction.
- Acupuncture services are tailored and performed for the patient in accordance with Acupuncture standards of practice.
- Needles are handled properly according to professional guidelines.
- Medical record documentation is completed per established guidelines.
- Acupuncture services are marketed with referral sources and at community events to increase awareness and understanding of this intervention.
- In-service education is provided to staff upon request to ensure acupuncture is understood and offered to patients as an alternative.
- Education is provided to students, residents, and fellows rotating through the facility.
- Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications and Experience
Education/Degree
Required: Graduate of an acupuncture college or training program.
Experience
Required: Minimum of one year experience as acupuncturist in a health care/rehabilitation setting.
Licensure
Required: Current and valid licensure as Licensed Acupuncturist from the Massachusetts Licensure Board or active full medical license and proof of acupuncture certification course completion and competency.
Skills
Required:
- Must demonstrate problem-solving skills for treatment planning and execution taking into consideration each patient’s age, psychosocial, and cultural background.
- Safely execute all job responsibilities without risking injury to self or patients. Demonstrate the ability to assess and interact with patients and families using the theories of human growth and development, family systems, and cultural background.
- Computer proficiency required. Microsoft Office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
Preferred:
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.
- Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
- High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
