This position holds an additional pay incentive for hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.
Hours: 7a - 7p
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic MRI scanning procedures to produce consistently high-quality examinations in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Provides excellent patient care for all MRI scan procedures. Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork to include orders, lab work and authorization confirmation. Consistently monitors and ensures the safety of patients as it relates to radiation and contrast dosing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examines orders and verifies the patient request for accuracy.
- Operates MRI equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician.
- Completes required paperwork/orders, email order request and authorization in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform intravenous injections of GBCA when required.
- Monitor supplies/stock room/equipment, maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Maintain all necessary QA documentation.
- Effectively communicates with Radiologist for protocols, as needed.
- Effectively communicates with PACS/IT for imaging distribution, as necessary.
- Operates x-ray equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensing/Certification:
- Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT, MRI.
- BLS.
Experience (years and type):
- Less than 1 year of Radiology, MRI experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to perform procedures in accordance to the CR departmental protocols and standards.
- Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role.
- Must be able to communicate with the Radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered.
- Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Must have positive communication skills.
- Must be competent to perform IVs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Primarily walking and standing.
- Lifting 25-50 lbs.
- Days would be of varying durations of between 8-14 hours.
- Technologist will be exposed to infectious diseases, contaminated equipment, cleaning chemicals, prolonged sitting, some heavy lifting.
