Specific job responsibilities of our Dental Hygienists include, but are not limited to:
- Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, application of fluoride and sealants.
- Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession.
- Selection of materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient’s oral health.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions.
- Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical and dental histories, and charting in patient charts.
- Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring instruments and equipment are sterile.
- Breakdown of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments are returned for sterilization promptly.
- Take x-rays as necessary and as recommended by the ADA.
Requirements:
- Superior customer service skills, with the ability to infuse personality, empathy, and enthusiasm into each patient contact.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines.
- Possess a professional and positive attitude.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Valid license to practice in Connecticut (Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH).
