Alameda County Behavioral Health Department’s Guidance Clinic is recruiting for a provisional* Behavioral Health Clinical Manager.
We are seeking a passionate and committed leader to support the Guidance Clinic team.
$109,678.40 - $133,286.40 Annually
This is a provisional recruitment.
*Provisional Appointments: For a provisional appointment, a civil service exam is not required. However, incumbents remain at-will until successfully competing in the civil service examination process.
THE GUIDANCE CLINIC
The Alameda County Behavioral Health Department’s (ACBHD) Guidance Clinic (GC) is situated within ACBHD’s Forensic, Diversion and Re-Entry System of Care, and is the behavioral health provider at the Juvenile Justice Center. The GC provides an array of behavioral health services for detained youth and young adults. The GC works in the Transition Center to provide re-entry support, discharge planning and case management. Our focus is linking high-end mental health youth to mental health providers in the community and other resources. When appropriate and feasible, the GC provides family engagement/support, family therapy and family case management.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking an experienced professional who can manage the complexity of the role as well as manage relationships across agencies. The ideal candidate is a deep listener who integrates multiple perspectives thoughtfully and has a keen interest in working with justice-involved youth and collaborating with law enforcement partners. As a strong leader, you will have skills in delegation, coaching, problem-solving, and meeting facilitation.
THE POSITION
The Behavioral Health Clinical Manager (BHC Manager) oversees the Guidance Clinic’s clinical operations and reports to the Director of Juvenile Justice Health Services. The BHC Manager currently supervises six clinicians, one mental health specialist, and one administrative clerical lead.
This position requires the BHC Manager to be onsite Monday - Friday.

EDUCATION: Possession of a master's degree from an accredited school in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, nursing or related field. -AND-
EXPERIENCE: Equivalent of three (3) years of post-license experience as a behavioral health/mental health clinician providing clinical and/or case management services, of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity equivalent to that of a Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor in Alameda County. -AND-
LICENSE: Possession of a valid clinical license from one (1) of the applicable licensing authority: California Board of Behavioral Sciences, California Board of Psychology, or California Board of Nursing. Some positions in this class require a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Applicants must possess such license prior to appointment to such positions.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: Experience working with youth/adolescents and/or in a correctional environment is preferred but not required.
