The Registration Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient registration of patients by gathering and recording patient demographic and insurance data in the computer system. The job includes identification and collection of a patient's co-pay, deductible, deposit, or setting up payment plans.

Core Job Functions
- Verification of patient demographics, insurance and other vital statistical information required to identify and submit insurance claims for services rendered. Collect information required by government and the health system for analysis as necessary. Scan required documentation to support necessary insurance and healthcare claim processing.
- Creates and maintains a welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff. Assumes responsibility for patient satisfaction related to instructions, wait times, anticipation of needs, and the registration process. Promptly answers telephones, voice mails, and emails.
- Timely and accurately reviews, manages, and completes required edits to patient registration via the AuditLogix system. Correctly challenges inappropriate registration errors flagged in AuditLogix.
- Demonstrates a high priority towards recognizing patients who are waiting. Follows a standard routine to promote efficiency. Keeps patients informed of wait times.
- Confirms co-payment, deductible, or deposit amounts from cards/software. Informs the patient, requests payment, processes payment, and produces a receipt. Informs the patient of payment options, financial counseling, and Financial Assistance.
