Cape Fox Facilities Services is seeking a Lab Manager to join our team in Hamilton, MT in support of the NIH.
Responsibilities:
- Support the RML Biosafety Training program by providing biosafety training to RML staff at various levels.
- Support the RML Select Agent Program through audits/reviews of Select Agent records, plans, and laboratory inventories.
- Perform laboratory safety surveys for BSL-2, BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories.
- Pre-review recombinant nucleic acid and biological pathogen registrations to ensure administrative and technical completeness and compliance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant and Synthetic Nucleic Acids (NIH Guidelines) and other NIH or federal policies.
- Perform risk assessments of new procedures and new equipment for BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories.
- Develop new SOPs/plans and review and update existing SOPs/plans.
- Review animal study proposals for compliance with safety and biosafety guidelines/regulations.
- Inspect BSL-4 critical containment and life support systems.
- Provide biosafety support for COVID-19 response activities.
- Participate in facility design review for new lab construction and renovation projects.
- Perform lab and equipment decontamination and validation procedures.
- Respond to facility incidents and alarms and conduct timely risk assessments.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a related field. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in related field.
- Must be able to pass FBI Security Risk Assessment (SRA) and be registered to work with Select Agents.
- Must be able to obtain a Tier 3 background investigation.
- Must be enrolled in the NIH Biological Surety Program and maintain status through the personal reliability program.
- Knowledge of BSL3 and BSL4 safety practices and procedures.
- Knowledge on how to perform a risk assessment process for high consequence pathogens.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, CDC and USDA regulations as well as NIH Recombinant DNA guidelines.
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
