The UAA School of Nursing is seeking applications for Adjunct Faculty for all locations including our main Anchorage Campus and extended sites throughout the State of Alaska. We are seeking innovative, energetic professionals to contribute to our nursing education and clinical programs which include those taught on campuses or delivered via distance learning. We endeavor to grow our program across Alaska, as excellent healthcare education is the cornerstone of prevention, wellness, and quality of life.
Adjunct faculty will develop and deliver instructional materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, in the clinical/skills lab or simulation settings in accordance with program curriculum and learning objectives. They will provide guidance and support to students, including mentoring, advising, and clinical assistance. Adjuncts will be asked to work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, clinical experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students. Previous teaching experience is highly desirable, as are strong interpersonal communication skills, and experience working with private and public external constituencies. The ability to advocate for the School of Nursing mission, vision and core values along with a commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment that celebrates student success and achievement will ensure a positive outcome for all.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold a minimum of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Must be eligible for and maintain unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in State of Alaska
- Clinical experience required in one of the following areas: Community Health, Psych/Mental Health, OB, Medical Surgical/Critical Care
Preferred:
- Masters Degree in Nursing
- Experience in additional clinical specialty
Position Details:
This position may be located on the Anchorage Campus or at one of the various extended sites throughout the State of Alaska. This is a part-time, for credit, adjunct faculty position. Salary is based on experience, as well as the number of previous semesters taught within the University of Alaska.
Adjunct positions are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not constitute an offer of appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester. Hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of the semester schedule.
