Job Requirements
Minimum: 1 year RN experience.
The pre-op nurse should be proficient in:
- Inserting IV’s
- Administering pre-op medications
- Assisting with nerve blocks
- Prepping patients for the OR
- Providing instruction to patients on their rights and procedures
The post-op nurse should have appropriate skills in:
- Monitoring patients’ levels of recovery after anesthesia
- Administering medications to treat:
- Pain
- Nausea
- High/low blood pressure
- Other post-operative conditions
- ACLS and BLS certification
- Providing/explaining patient discharge instructions
- Assisting with physical therapy
