Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking full-time New Grad RNs for our Neurosciences Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A New Graduate Nurse is either a current nursing student nearing graduation from an RN program or a recent graduate with less than six months of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Facility: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center , an 885-bed tertiary-care hospital in Winston-Salem and the region's only Level 1 trauma center, serves as the cornerstone of a globally recognized health system that integrates exceptional patient care, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive medical education through a network of community hospitals, specialty locations, and the renowned Wake Forest School of Medicine.
- Residency Program: New Graduate RNs at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist receive supportive training led by dedicated nurse educators, including clinical orientation, specialty-specific learning, and skill-building in clinical decision-making, teamwork, communication, and career development.
The Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Neurosciences units include:
- Neurology: This unit has 17 floor beds and 6 epilepsy-monitored beds for neonates to adults, with an average stay of 3-5 days. It features a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. The unit is known for its strong teamwork and experienced RNs.
- Neurosurgery: This 26-bed unit operates with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. Known for its strong teamwork and experienced RNs, it is a fast-paced environment that primarily handles neurosurgeries but also manages trauma and ortho/spine overflow cases.

Job Summary
The New Graduate Nurse provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). They lead and direct other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
What You’ll Need
- Less than 6 months of RN experience
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines
