The Child & Family Specialist, under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Integrated & Behavioral Health, is responsible for the guidance and management of Family Focused Recovery’s Child & Adolescent Services. This individual will co-lead a team and directly supervise the Care Coordinator and Family Greeter in providing crisis intervention, assessment, person-centered care planning, therapy, and coordination of care for the minor children of pregnant and parenting women who use substances engaged in the Outpatient & Community-Based Services. This individual will work closely with other supervisory and administrative staff to ensure efficient and high-quality service provision for all persons served by Family Focused Recovery (FFR).
This individual will support the opening of Family Focused Recovery’s Residential Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Assistant Vice President of Integrated & Behavioral Health in the successful completion of the Implementation and Evaluation Phases of the Regional Partnership Grant (RPG), including adherence to RPG Research requirements.
- Work closely with other supervisory and administrative staff to ensure the provision of team-based care for all persons served is high quality, efficient, and in compliance with all accreditation and funding source requirements.
- Lead team in developing a network of agency contacts who serve women and educate them about VOASELA’s services and FFR Program offerings.
- Provide onsite screening and assessments at juvenile, drug, and other court settings, child welfare agencies, health clinics, physician offices, and other agencies.
- Support Program Assistant and Family Greeter/Receptionist in addressing all incoming phone, email, and fax referrals to ensure timely screening and admission of eligible persons to FFR.
- Upon admission of persons served to VOASELA’s FFR Program, conduct required assessment and screening instruments to diagnose persons served with behavioral health disorders and develop person-centered care planning with persons served to guide service delivery in line with best practices based on the individualized needs of each person served.
- Provide direct counseling and crisis intervention services to persons served, utilizing individual, family, group, and IOP interventions.
- Assist parents in the creation of plans of safe care as needed to mitigate the risk of out-of-home placement of minor children as appropriate.
- Provide training and supervision to the Care Coordinator to ensure the provision of care coordination services is in line with best practices.
- Record accurate information on each person served in VOASELA’s Electronic Health System in a timely manner. Ensure accurate, timely, and quality data entry is completed by NOPRCs.
- Keep current in the arena of substance use disorder treatment, specifically trends impacting child and adolescent substance use and the children of substance users.
- Provide education, training, and support to staff on child development, child care, parenting, and other topics as needs dictate.
- Collaborate with community partners regarding care, parenting needs, child development, and case management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- At least 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents impacted by parental substance use.
- At least 1 year of experience working with women experiencing substance use disorders.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practices. Dedication to the creation of a racially equitable continuum of care for pregnant and parenting women who use substances and their children.
- Extensive knowledge of the child and adolescent services available in the Greater New Orleans area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expertise within Electronic Health Systems.
- Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a respectful manner, remaining flexible, proactive, and task-oriented.
- Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, accuracy, flexibility, reliability, and prioritizing skills.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and CFR 42 Part 2.
- This position provides services in office, in community settings and via telehealth.
- This position may transport persons served occasionally using personal or agency vehicle.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s Degree in social work or counseling and current Louisiana licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Maintenance of all requirements to provide telehealth services on an ongoing basis.
- Current driver’s license issued by state of residence.
- Current vehicle insurance.
- Current vehicle registration in state of residence.
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation (not all convictions will exclude candidates from being hired).
- Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Must complete TB screening and testing on an annual basis.
- Must be able to maintain CPR certification.
