Position Description
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Support Specialist’s primary roles are to provide various administrative and technical services to the manufacturing operation. This position will primarily support the Bonded Technical team, focusing on the areas of Maintenance data reporting and Quality Complaint investigations, but may support other parts of the business as required. The MSS often interacts with Manufacturing Management, Maintenance, Customer Service, and Production Operations, and in some cases Customers or Suppliers to ensure continuous communication for manufacturing. Although day-to-day roles may differ, the MSS is usually a functional position that ensures continuous flow of information or reports, and/or responds to customer issues.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Conduct various testing as necessary to help determine root causes of quality complaints.
- Gather all necessary information to determine accuracy of customer complaints, which may involve checking original quotations, purchase orders, customer order history, interacting with engineers and sales personnel, etc.
- Review records such as original work orders, process control data, test data, invoices, computer print outs, bills of lading, and related documents and correspondence.
- Draft proposed responses to customer complaints based on findings from testing and investigation.
- Keep the status of customer complaints current on the database as work progresses.
- Support Maintenance work order process: create and close work orders in SAP system, update and post Excel work order spreadsheet.
- Enter Maintenance timecard data into the system.
- Support Maintenance PM process: export upcoming PM’s from SAP and transfer to templates used by the team for organization, prioritization, and communication.
- Support stockroom inventory & spare parts optimization and physical inventory as required.
- Produce various reports, work orders, production records, charts, graphs, change orders, inventory records, and more as required to support business needs.
Education/Experience and Skills Required:
- A high school diploma.
- Some post-secondary schooling up to an Associates Degree is a plus.
- 1-3 years Manufacturing, Technical, or Customer Service experience.
- Proficiency in computer-based software applications such as MS Office, SAP, Gensuite, Complaint System, Paper Vision, Shop Vue, Access Database, bar code systems, printers, copiers, and general office equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- May operate hand truck when moving returned products.
- Must have personal initiative and ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
