Job Summary and Qualifications
The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the healthcare team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students, and colleagues.
What you will do in this role:
- You will conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient’s speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation. You will administer objective tests to assess patient’s communication assets and liabilities.
- You will structure and implement individualized patient programs to improve communication abilities.
- You will evaluate patients regularly during treatment and adjust programs as needed to maximize patient progress.
- You will document progress in the patient’s chart. You will complete notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
- You will consult with the Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
What qualifications you will need:
· Graduation from an accredited school of a Master’s level Speech Language Pathology program is required.
· Must be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state which you practice, in accordance with law and regulation.
· Must have Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) per ASHA.
· A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification is required.
