As a Senior Operating Room Technician, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the RN, the Senior Operating Room Technician (SORT) provides various care activities and related services for patients undergoing surgical procedures. The SORT must be able to demonstrate growth and development knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to patients of all ages. The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal. SORTS must demonstrate awareness of a patient’s rights in all aspects of patient care and report issues to the appropriate person.
The SORT must demonstrate clinical competence in areas applicable to perioperative care and must be able to successfully demonstrate leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. In addition to the responsibilities of the Operating Room Technician (ORT), the SORT works under the direction of the RN and acts as a unit coordinator by acting as a role model and a resource for all ORTs on the unit along with performing additional duties.
Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Successfully complete ORT classes as required by care center/unit.
