The Slocum Research & Education Foundation is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team. This position entails working closely with collaborators in industry, clinical, and academic spaces to design and execute orthopedic research studies.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and execute research protocols in coordination with medical, industry, and academic partners
- Work directly with patients to coordinate study related activities
- Screen, recruit, and consent patients for participation in research studies
- Manage multi-site study logistics
- Maintain exceptionally detailed and complete case report forms, source documentation, and study, regulatory, and patient binders
- Prepare IRB documents; initial application, amendment/modification, AE reporting (sponsor, IRB and DSMB), and continuing review
- Aid in drafting of protocol, informed consent, and HIPAA Authorization for Research forms
- Participate in quality control activities such as follow-up on sponsor requests for data clarification and data quality audits
- Advocate for patient well-being and safety
- Identify, report, and follow-up on all adverse events and serious adverse events
- Travel to hospitals, clinics, labs, imaging sites to coordinate study activities or accompany patients
- Other duties as requested and required to manage research protocols, execute research activities, and ensure patient safety
Requirements
Minimum:
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator in clinic or hospital setting
- Completion of training courses for the ethical conduct of research (human subjects training, GCP)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
- Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) training and certification
- Experience working in orthopedic clinical settings
- Experience or familiarity with medical device outcomes research or pharmaceutical industry clinical trials (early or late stage)
- Strong understanding of human subjects’ protections and Good Clinical Practice guidelines
- Interest and aptitude for working directly with orthopedic patients in numerous settings
- Ability to manage complex projects and adhere to timelines in a detail-oriented and independently motivated manner
- Understanding of and compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, perform basic mathematical operations, and type accurately and efficiently
- Knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Courtesy and professionalism
- Balance timelines daily, weekly and monthly
- Communicate clearly, concisely and courteously via phone, email and in person
- Comfortable with operating room environments and procedures
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR and EDC systems
Summary
The Slocum Research & Education Foundation is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team. In this position, you will work closely with industry partners, academic collaborators, medical personnel, and research staff to execute high-quality clinical research studies related to musculoskeletal health and orthopedic procedures. You will work with a team to execute a variety of studies from inception to close-out including collaboration on protocol development, research operations, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Attention to detail and the ability to both complete tasks independently and work collaboratively with a team are highly valued in this position. An understanding of the components and workflow of clinical research including the IRB processes, participant recruitment and consenting, assessing and reporting for adverse events and protocol deviations, and tracking of study timelines is essential. Our current work portfolio includes multi-site clinical trials with investigational drugs and devices, registry studies with long-term follow-up, retrospective case series, and projects focusing on methodological development and quality control.
