Job Summary: The Preschool Services School Psychologist provides a variety of services, including, but not limited to, special education evaluations, social skills and behavioral training and supports with students, parent and teacher consultations, and data analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Conduct psychoeducational diagnostic evaluations, including classroom observations, preparation of evaluation reports, makes recommendations on eligibility for special education services, and ensures compliance with IDEA and Utah regulations with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
- Write written assessment reports including recommendations.
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments.
- Interpret and analyze student academic and behavioral data.
- Provide consultation services with school personnel.
- Provide consultation services with parents.
- Act as a liaison with community professionals.
- Actively participate in and provide continued professional development activities.

Required Education and Qualifications:
- Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) cleared criminal background check.
- Requires one of the following:
- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a School Psychologist License Area of Concentration;
- an equivalent license in another state;
- verification of enrollment or completion of an accredited School Psychologist program prior to the date of hire that will result in one of the licenses listed above; or
- current enrollment in a NASP-accredited university program and deemed ready for an internship.
New program graduates who have not yet received their license must upload a conferral letter from their university program in lieu of their license. This letter must include the anticipated date of graduation and the specific areas in which the applicant will be licensed.
Internship candidates must include a letter from their program verifying their current enrollment status, their readiness for an internship, and their anticipated program completion date. This letter must be uploaded in place of the required educator license in the application system.
Working Environment:
- Work takes place in a typical school environment.
- Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
