Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is accepting applications for a full-time Health Care Technician II (Lead) on Unit R2 - 1st Shift.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- scheduling staff and ensuring proper coverage of the residential unit
- formulating daily staff assignments with collaboration from the Nurse Unit Manager
- providing on-the-job training and mentoring for HCT I's and providing information to groups of staff relating to the operation of the unit and care of the residents
- coordinating HCT I staff within the residential unit to assist with medical appointments, off-campus activities, leisure activities and to provide backup support to other residential units as needed
- assisting the Nurse Unit Manager with HCT I interviews as requested
- assisting nursing staff as requested
- taking initiative and remaining flexible are necessary to meet/exceed the needs of our residents, families, and staff
This position is designated MANDATORY and MUST report or stay over during adverse weather events and/or other emergencies.
Flexibility is required for training/education purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.
ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER:
Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT: We are a specialized long-term care facility focusing on maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs whose level of support extends beyond that which can be provided in family or community living settings. We are committed to providing individualized compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff.
The successful candidate will return to the Work Experience section of the application and thoroughly document, in detail, that they possess the following:
- Experience working directly with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities, on-going health care needs, dementia and issues of aging, or other health-related field
Management Preferences:
- Experience in leadership such as leading teams or projects

Special Condition(s) for Continued Employment:
- As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
- As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
- A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is NOT eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
- the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
- or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
This Sign-On Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
