UW Medical Center-Northwest Financial Admitting and ED Registration has an outstanding opportunity to hire a PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST 2.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 32 hours per week, Evening Shifts
- Mondays - Thursdays, 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- The Patient Services Specialist 2 performs a variety of admitting department tasks including but not limited to: patient registration, general clerical support, customer service, and operating the switchboard.
- Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets, directs, and assists all patients and visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner.
- Ensures patients understand admission policies and procedures.
- Coordinates obtaining interpreters for patients as appropriate.
- Performs admitting or pre-admitting procedures upon arrival of patients to include registering patients; verifying, collecting, and updating demographic and financial information by appropriate means.
- Determines eligibility for care by use of payer web portals and phone inquiries.
- Collects co-payment or other patient liabilities.
- Responds to patient questions; provides directions to specified areas such as clinics, units, ancillary and support departments, parking and eating facilities.
- Assists patients in accessing hospital and community services by consulting and making referrals to appropriate resources.
- Promptly and courteously answers all calls through Medical Center switchboard.
- Implements emergency procedures calmly, efficiently, and accurately.
- Assists in orienting and training new staff as assigned.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience OR equivalent education/experience.
