Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer – Intramurals
Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer at Liberty University is responsible for providing participant care and overseeing safety and operations at Intramural Sports events during set work hours. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk, and providing excellent customer service to all patrons.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the assessment of injuries, emergency care, evaluation, and treatment for Intramural Sports participants, Campus Recreation facility users, and sponsored Campus Recreation events.
- Evaluate Intramural Sports injured participants’ readiness to play and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted based on supervising physician protocol.
- Instruct and facilitate CPR courses for Campus Recreation employees as needed and offer CPR to the general student body when scheduled.
- Assist in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies, ensuring compliance with CHP and university policies.
- Document and report incidents and injuries for Intramural Sports participants, Campus Recreation facility users, and sponsored Campus Recreation events.
- Document, track, and report program statistics and objectives progress in the areas of Athletic Training, treatment, participation, and survey feedback.
- Perform treatment and rehab protocols on Intramural athletes as directed by the supervising physician during scheduled times.
- Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings, or any other task as directed by the Director of Intramurals.
- Perform all other tasks assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine to aid and assist in the operation of athletic training services.
- Occasionally assist Club Sports athletes with first aid or emergency treatment when in recreational facilities and fill in for Club Sports events when called upon.
Education/ Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- NATA certification and Virginia State License required.
- CPR/AED certification required.
- National Provider Identification (NPI) number required.
*This is an 11-month position.
