Job Description:
The Tech performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Tech will support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.

Pay Range: $28.15/hour + depending on experience (Certified). $25.58/hour + depending on experience (Uncertified)

Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week. 4x10 hour shifts per week. Monday - Friday, 10:45 a.m. - 9:15 p.m. No call requirements or holiday shifts.

Your day.
As a CST, you need to know how to:
Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assemble, organize and complete case carts according to doctor’s preference lists.
Provide appropriate instrumentation, suture and all supplies as requested and provide and maintain a sterile environment. May assist surgeon by passing instruments to surgeon during cases.
Count sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper technique and established policy.
Assist in maintenance and care of specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis. Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
Assist with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment. Care for instruments and equipment.

Minimum Requirements (Certified):
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of a formal, accredited Surgical Technologist program
Current NCCT Surgical Technologist certification (TS-C) or NBSTSA certification
Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist is required
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association
Minimum Requirements (Uncertified):
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of a formal, accredited Surgical Technologist program or proof of on-the-job training/demonstrated work experience is required
Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association

Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
