Position Summary:
To perform routine and specialized examinations in CT; to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; to prepare patients for examinations. To be the area expert. To adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist. This position is also the preceptor and resource technologist in the area for training of employees and daily functions.

IEMA Radiography License Illinois upon hire
Radiography (R)(ARRT) upon hire
Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) upon hire
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3 years of experience in/with CT experience required. This position requires stand-by call.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
- Work may occasionally require travel to other Carle Health facilities/hospitals.
- Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes.

Essential Functions:
- Clinical Excellence: Performs CT procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages and is expected to be the expert. Exhibits competency and is the resource person in performing and filming CT procedures. Develops new procedures and deviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologist. Exhibits competency and is the resource person in knowledge of catheters, guidewires, and sterile tray preparation for invasive CT procedures. Obtains, documents, and oversees accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable. Follows and oversees JCAHO patient safety goals as well as quality throughout the CT scan procedure. Maintains expert working knowledge of equipment operation and troubleshooting including hardware and software, CT1 and CT2, workstations, printers. Maintains and oversees a clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room. Works with physicians and coding specialists to ensure efficient and accurate coding of procedures. Demonstrates a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues. Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment. Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. Performs patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures/policies.
- Relationship building/quality improvement: Assures competent personnel and continued skill development. Displays leadership skills in his/her daily process. Continuously facilitates and evaluates staff/student orientation, ongoing performance providing positive reinforcement and constructive criticism in a professional manner; managing personnel conflicts seeking direction from the manager as needed. Develops and implements annual competencies for all CT technologists. Develops and implements required annual education for all CT technologists and ensures staff compliance. Performs an ongoing assessment of services and personnel performance/development needs to develop staff meetings for which minutes are maintained. Develops and implements a staffing plan evaluating patient needs and developmental levels of staff to adjust staffing levels as daily workload changes, making adjustments to reduce overtime and/or over-budget hours including maintaining a log. Maintains and monitors HIS skills of staff, through accessing technically incomplete log, charge log, and clinically incomplete log to ensure timely billing and proper CPT coding. Develops and implements a staffing plan by adjusting staffing levels based on daily workload. Provides input on the evaluation of staff. Participates in the QI process. Leads in development of teamwork of staff to ensure efficient and appropriate patient care. Networks with other professionals regionally. Demonstrates ability to multi-task to assist with workflow. Develops new processes utilizing creative ideas for a dynamic environment. Assists in achieving competencies. Maintains a current knowledge by keeping abreast of trends in new processes and procedures. Follows-up on concerns/problems as needed. Displays a professional attitude in order to foster mutual respect and create a productive learning environment.
- Quality Improvement: Assumes personal responsibility for area use of time, supplies and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost-effective care for our patients. Coordinates a training program as well as continued training of existing employees (competencies) to ensure high quality exams. Completes care while conserving resources and preventing waste of supplies. Completes work within assigned shift. Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, assisting with transport.
