Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Responsibilities include:

Obtaining a thorough medical history from patients and performing examinations to determine patient needs.
Analyzing and interpreting information collected from patients to develop appropriate diagnoses.
Coordinating care and rounding on patients when necessary.
Formulating treatment plans and prescribing medications as legally authorized.
Maintaining complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses.
Consulting with or referring patients to appropriate specialists when necessary.
Providing patients with information to promote health and prevent disease.
Counseling patients and family members about self-management and treatment plans.
Conducting research and incorporating evidence-based practices into care.
Maintaining current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices.

Qualifications

Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
Certification as a Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Obtaining and maintaining required department specific competencies and certifications.
