- PRN/Part-time nurse to work evenings
Are you a dedicated Nurse passionate about long term care and looking for a progressive career in healthcare? Do you want to work with a leader in the rehabilitation arena, specializing in long term care? As a Charge Nurse you will assess resident needs, develop individual care plans, administer nursing care, evaluate nursing care and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in the delivery of nursing care. In this role, you will be involved in hiring, orientation and monitoring the nursing staff and training them to do their best while working closely with doctors, administering medications and maintaining accurate documentation of treatment.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the nursing unit and coordinate the effective use of personnel, supplies, equipment and facilities.
- Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units; reassign personnel when necessary to ensure residents' needs and budgetary controls are met.
- Manage and analyze patient care following admission/readmission; conduct initial assessment for newly admitted or readmitted patients.
- Assist in creating and implementing care plans that address individual residents' needs.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, gastronomy tube management as well as some wound care.
- Monitor residents and communicate changes to physicians.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of resident care and maintain medical records to ensure safe, efficient and therapeutic care to residents.
- Troubleshoot and investigate complaints, taking necessary action to resolve problems as necessary.
The qualified RN will have a degree in nursing from an accredited Nursing program. Additionally, you must have:
- RN or LVN License, in good standing.
- 1 year of experience as a nurse, experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and maintain confidentiality and react decisively in emergencies.
- Exceptional supervisory skills, taking a proactive role in supervising and developing the nursing team.
- Excellent training skills, ability to provide hands-on training to nursing staff.
- Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills.
- Case management skills, comfort with client relations.
