We are looking for a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioners (NP, PA) to serve the primary care needs of our local rural community residents in Colusa, Williams, Arbuckle and nearby areas, California.

Job Description
The family practice clinic provider focuses on utilizing a holistic approach to patient care with emphasis on health promotion & patient education/counseling as well as supporting direct care staff through education and mentorship with the shared goal of providing exceptional patient care to a mixed population of community patients in the rural health clinic.
Specific Tasks include:
- Thorough medical history/exam and documenting.
- Comprehensive wellness and episodic primary care clinic visits.
- Prescribe medication, DME, & treatments as appropriate.
- Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests as appropriate.
- Instruct patients on selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultation, and laboratory examinations relevant to their case.
- Educate and counsel patient and family members concerning health promotion, self-care skills, disease prevention, and treatment options in coordination with other healthcare providers.
- Participate in periodic meetings that enhance an interdisciplinary approach to primary health care.
- Identify quality improvement issues with respect to improving patient care.
- Maintain a current level of knowledge relative to professional medical practice.
- Educate and act as a resource to ancillary staff.
- Request for specialty referrals w/consultations where applicable.

Medical supervision is provided by designated physician.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum requirements:
- Current BLS required. ACLS certification preferred.
- Current NP or PA license in California (Required)
- Current DEA license
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
In collaboration with supervising physician, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identify health status of patients by taking medical history, performing exam, and initiating and evaluating screening and diagnostic procedures.
- Provide services in accordance with Standard procedures.
- Determine which patient to refer to the physician for further diagnostics and treatment.
- Plan and assume responsibility with physician for ongoing health maintenance and clinical management of patients in stable phases of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Evaluate patient’s emotional behavior, counsel, and instruct individuals and families regarding domestic and health-related problems.
- Initiate orders for diagnostic laboratory tests and x-rays. Interpret and review results. Review medication refills.
- Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred when required.
- Serve as clinical consultant to nursing and ancillary personnel.
- Coordinate work activities with families, community agencies, and other members of the health care team.
- Promote economies in service and lower patient costs whenever possible.
- Participate in development and annual review of policies and procedures. Participate in periodic medical records review.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
