Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Manager of Nursing provides direct patient care through the identification, implementation and evaluation of care built on nursing diagnosis and focused on goals mutually set by patients and families.
Provides clinical expertise to nurses and the staff who partner with nursing to provide cancer care services to patients and families. Oversees management of the Clinical Supervisor, site nurses and medical assistants. Represents nursing in corporate initiatives to enhance care delivery and positioning in the health care environment.
Desired/Required Qualifications:
Education:
Licensed RN in the State of Michigan.
Successful completion of competency-based orientation program and chemotherapy certificate.
CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment.
Specific skills & abilities:
Minimum of 1-year medical/surgical (preferably oncology).
BSN, OCN, >3 years of oncology experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Functions under the Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner job description.
- Accountable for the delivery of patient care through expert knowledge of nursing policy and procedure and the support of programs necessary for maintaining and advancing nursing education and clinical practice.
- Provides support and direction to the Clinical Supervisor and medical assistants while also acting as a consultant/liaison to other department managers.
- Assumes responsibility for interviewing, selecting, retaining and supporting the growth and development of staff. Monitors employee performance and conduct including performance evaluations and corrective action.
- Administrates time and attendance issues including management of employee work schedules, payroll and time off requests/absences.
- Collaborates with RNM and CS to identify and resolve nursing service issues by actively participating in corporate committees aimed at establishing, addressing and advancing corporate service goals.
- All other duties as assigned.
