Details
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine has several openings for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physicians. The PEM physician will provide direct patient care at the Pediatric Emergency Department and Rapid Treatment Unit at Primary Children’s Hospital’s Salt Lake Campus (Salt Lake City, UT); at the University of Utah Pediatric Clinic at the Sugar House Health Center; and at the Larry H. and Gayle Miller Primary Children’s Hospital’s Lehi Campus (anticipated opening early 2024). Patient care includes the full range of illness and injury in children 0-18 years, and beyond in particular chronic illness populations. The PEM physician will work collaboratively with surgical and medical consultants in developing optimal plans of care and disposition plans. Non-PEM traditional clinical care responsibilities will also be required (after hours and rural clinics, telemedicine). Medical control of fixed-wing and helicopter medical transport services and consultative assistance to clinics and outside emergency departments is expected. All clinical care is to be documented in the electronic medical record of Intermountain Healthcare, and documentation finalized within 7 days or less of date of service (most documentation should be finalized within 48 hours of service). There are expectations for academic, education, and service work outside of clinical care that includes funded research, educational, advocacy, and administrative roles.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have successfully completed a Pediatric residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program, or an Emergency Medicine residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program; and must be Board Certified in Pediatrics or in Emergency Medicine. Post-residency experience at a Level 1 trauma center is preferred. Selected candidates will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
