WAGI is seeking a Full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our endoscopy surgery center. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in the Endoscopy Center in accordance with physician’s orders, recognized nursing techniques, and legal aspects of current nurse practice within Washington State and the Center’s policies and procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse works as a team member under the supervision of an RN (Registered Nurse).
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the physical, emotional, and social needs of the patient.
- Identify pertinent patient history during admission process.
- Assess patient’s needs continually from admission to discharge and relay needed information to other team members.
- Serve as a patient advocate to assure safe, efficient procedures and quality care.
- Ensure complete and thorough documentation in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to start, maintain, and discontinue the use of IVs.
- Initiate and direct life support measures and perform effectively in “code” situations.
- Offer and implement suggestions to provide improved patient care and participate in Quality Improvement activities as appropriate for position.
- Maintain a current knowledge of medication use, preparation, and contraindications, especially as related to GI or emergency situations.
- Responsibilities include the admission, procedure assist, and recovery duties as assigned.
- Collect and label specimens accurately and perform pathology reconciliation.
- Utilize knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety.
- Clean and properly care for all equipment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Graduate of an accredited LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) nursing program.
- Current LPN license to practice professional nursing in the state of Washington.
- Current BLS certification.
- Previous clinical, hospital, or gastroenterology nursing experience preferred.
- IV therapy experience preferred.

Physical Activities and Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel occasionally.
- Ability to assist patients supporting weight, assisting in positioning of patients, etc.
- Ability to grasp small objects and manipulate medical instruments.
- Ability to reach including reaching overhead and below waist.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds.
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional local travel may be required to other locations on an as-needed basis.
Washington Gastroenterology has an excellent compensation and benefit package that includes the following:
Employees (and their families) who work full time (defined as working 30 or more hours per week) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance. In addition, employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401(k) plan which includes a company provided safe harbor contribution of 3% of annual earnings and the potential for a company discretionary profit-sharing contribution.
All employees will be eligible to accrue PTO at a rate of .04 hours per payroll hour (1.6 hours for a 40 hour week) which can be used for and exceeds the required mandatory WA State and other local ordinances. In addition, full-time employees will be eligible for a Vacation accrual with a maximum annual accrual of 77 hours as a new hire.
WAGI has 8 standard Holidays each year for which full-time employees are eligible to receive paid holiday. In addition, full-time employees will be given 1 Float Holiday each year that they can schedule.
A new hire full-time employee in this role will be eligible for a Hiring Bonus in the amount of $3,000.
This is an Hourly position and the anticipated Compensation range is $24.65 - $31.90. The hired applicant is also eligible for annual discretionary bonuses.
