Summary:
Provides comprehensive evaluative, rehabilitative, preventative, and referral services for patients concerned about hearing loss on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare, and contract basis. Instructs patients, families, and other support personnel in rehabilitative/habilitative measures, monitors patients’ progress, and maintains clinical records.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifies, evaluates, treats and follows up clients on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare and contract basis as assigned.
- Provides age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment.
- Determines appropriate plans for clients and recommendations for continued care.
- Counsels clients, families, and others regarding hearing impairment.
- Encourages cooperation with other professionals, agencies, and services.
- Completes necessary documentation to comply with professional standards.
- Provides information and consultation to patients, families, and healthcare personnel.
- Participates actively in departmental and other teams.
- Supervises volunteers, students, and interns as directed.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
- Completes department operational procedures.
- Demonstrates relevant knowledge and application of clinical skills.
- Meets productivity expectations as determined by the department standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Conveys information obtained from continuing education programs to team members.
- Adheres to the ASHA Code of ethics and follows hospital and departmental policies.
- Competence in at least one higher-level audiology skill.
- Provides additional support to the department through involvement in ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's of Science – Minimal education is a Master's degree
- Certificate of Audiology
- Basic Life Support
Preferred Education:
Minimally Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as an audiologist.
Preferred Experience:
- Mid-level audiology skills, health promotion, and maintenance.
