Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Manager provides leadership and oversight of the Transfusion Medicine department, as designated by the Administrative Director. The manager of the Clinical Laboratory, working under the general direction of the Administrative Director of the Clinical Laboratory, will serve as the resource for coordination of all operational aspects of the Blood Bank department within Clinical Pathology across all Moffitt locations to include Moffitt Magnolia campus (MCC), Moffitt International Plaza (MIP), Moffitt McKinley Outpatient Clinic (MKC), Moffitt Wesley Chapel (MWC), Moffitt McKinley Hospital (MMH) and other new locations as expansion occurs. The manager will serve an integral part in managing the distribution of all blood products across Moffitt locations, implementing new technology, instrumentation, and assays as applicable. Duties for this position include management and oversight of daily operations, personnel management, budgetary/fiscal responsibilities, quality assurance and assessment, verifying accurate design and build of IT processes, and coordination of projects and shared departmental activities. The manager will serve as the technical consultant of the Transfusion Medicine department within the Clinical Laboratory as defined by CUA to ensure regulatory compliance. The manager will also act as the laboratory liaison or internal consultant for both inpatient and outpatient areas of the organization. The laboratory manager relies on experience and sound independent judgment to formulate strategic goals and to also resolve day-to-day operational issues. Emphasis is placed on high quality patient care and customer service, operational efficiency, turnaround times and budget targets.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science/Medical Technology.
Licensure Requirement:
Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel Laboratory Supervisor's license is required in Immunohematology.
Experience:
Minimum of three years relevant clinical laboratory operations experience as a manager or section supervisor is required. Minimum of five years experience as a clinical laboratory technologist in a relevant specialty, prior to management/supervisory experience is required.
Preferred:
Specific experience with blood product management across multiple sites, new instrument and test validation, implementation and IT workflow design and build.
