Summary
Holds primary board certification (or eligibility for certification) from the American Board of Internal Medicine AND has completed an ACGME-approved fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine AND is board certified or board eligible at the time of hiring. Is expected to lead the multidisciplinary critical care team, and coordinate care among the primary service and other consultant teams. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required. Assess, treats and supports patients with one or more vital organ system failures with the goal of preventing further life-threatening deterioration. Treats disease of the lungs and airways; Diagnoses and treats cancer, pneumonia, pleurisy, asthma, occupational disease, bronchitis, sleep disorders, emphysema and other complex disorders of the lungs. Performs resuscitation in the care of patients with acute cardiac, respiratory, or neurologic emergencies. Procedures that intensivists perform include intubation, difficult airway management, central and arterial line placement, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, ultrasonography, and diagnostic / therapeutic bronchoscopy, among others. As a physician of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG), provides patient care and serves as a member of the academic medical enterprise. Spanning the clinical and research enterprise in support of patient care, research, and education and advances the Institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. As such, the incumbent agrees to comply fully with MMG policies and procedures and the Hospital's Medical Staff Bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Greater than 50% of the attendings time is spent in the critical or intensivist care setting.
Qualifications:
Education/Licensure:
- MD or Equivalent
- Board certified (or eligible) in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine
- Florida Medical License
- DEA License
- ACLS as required by privileges granted through Medical Staff
