MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our team as a Psychiatric Hospital Consultant Professional in Portland, Maine. We are a cohesive team representing many disciplines, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Pharmacists, Resident Physicians, and Medical Students. We value teamwork and strive to nurture a supportive environment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides psychiatric consultation to inpatients at Maine Medical Center and should be comfortable working with patients with substance use disorders.
They provide face-to-face psychiatric evaluations and medication recommendations to patients on medical/surgical units. Due to the hospital-based setting, an ability to multitask and manage acute clinical scenarios is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing and/or medical theory and practice.
- Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- 2+ years of patient care in ambulatory mental health or hospital is preferred.
- Advanced skill and knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis and psychopharmacology. Comfort in treating patients with comorbid medical problems.
