The Scheduling Specialist will receive requests for procedures, coordinate the exam times per protocol with convenience considered for the patients and departments. Will coordinate pre-op testing when needed. Verifies insurance benefits. This position will be responsible for prepayment collections for procedures, and obtains prior auths for procedures that need done both in and out of the office. Must provide patient education for procedures and medication. Will also be required to complete increased clerical duties, assist in answering the telephone, provide clinical support, and assist with other tasks as assigned. This individual needs to be highly motivated, organized, and understand the workflow of preparing a patient for procedures from pre-op to post-op.

1-2 Years medical office - Required
Medical Assistant/Secretary, Unit Secretary, Surgical Technician, Imaging Support Specialist, or Imaging Scheduler - Preferred

Core Job Functions
- Ensures accurate scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and verification of the patients' appointment with the correct MD, modality, special equipment, and studies. Repeats appointment date, time, and location prior to ending call. Schedules interpreters for patients as needed.
- Performs pre-certification tasks when needed prior to services being rendered. Accurately updates and documents the referral in eClinical Works to include closing referral.
- Compliant with accessing and extracting confidential patient information for acquiring insurance authorizations. Clear, precise communication.
- Calls patients at home after surgery to provide follow-up and opportunity to clarify any instructions and answer questions.
- Patients receive thorough and accurate information concerning their condition and related procedures. Education materials are kept up to date and in adequate supply.
