The University Counseling Center (UCC) at the University of Utah enthusiastically welcomes applications for two full-time embedded staff psychologists to become integral members of our large dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is a fully benefited, full-time 12-month position. Responsibilities include providing individual, group, relationship counseling, conducting initial consultations, clinical supervision, and crisis intervention services.
Embedded psychologists spend a portion of their time within an identified college or department providing clinical, outreach, programming, and consultation services. The remainder of their time is spent within the central UCC location. Embedded staff have a unique opportunity to develop ongoing collaborative working relationships with faculty and staff and develop expertise within their embedded area.
Current openings are for one of two locations:
- Ivory University Housing: The Ivory University House is campus-adjacent student housing with approximately 600 students. Particular emphasis will be on providing on-site clinical services and programming within the Ivory House for approximately 20 hours/week. The remaining 20 hours will be assigned to central UCC or potentially augment other embedded sites.
- Health Sciences: The University of Utah Health Sciences includes the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Health, School of Dentistry, and the School of Medicine. The Embedded Psychologist provides clinical services for students across all health sciences colleges and partners with college faculty and staff providing preventative programming and outreach.
Essential Functions:
- Provide initial consultations and crisis intervention services.
- Conduct individual, couple/relationship, and group psychotherapy.
- Provide outreach presentations to the embedded site and campus community.
- Provide clinical supervision and actively participate in other training-related activities.
- Coordinate with administration at the embedded site in providing programming, preventative work, and general updates.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or PsyD degree from APA accredited graduate program in counseling or clinical psychology. Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship in counseling or clinical psychology. At a minimum, must obtain licensure as a Certified Psychology Resident, with a strong preference for candidates with licensure as a Psychologist. Previous experience in college student mental health and crisis intervention preferred.
