The doctors and staff at Waverly Animal Clinic have provided Waverly, Tennessee compassionate veterinary care and pet services year after year, making us the animal clinic of choice for pet owners in and around Humphreys County.
We are a full-service animal hospital for both large and small animals whose mission is to provide the highest standard of veterinary care. Our staff is passionate about veterinary medicine and are extremely well trained. We strive to provide professional, affordable, and advanced veterinary services.
Position Purpose:
Waverly Animal Clinic is growing! We are a true mixed animal practice with a beautiful, updated facility and a phenomenal team. We are well-established with plentiful large animal, equine, and small animal clientele - so we welcome DVMs of all interests to join us. If you’re a new graduate, our practice would serve as a great opportunity to receive in-depth mentorship in a handful of expertise!
Our current staff consists of 4 DVMs and a fully staffed team of LVTs. We only hire LVTs to assist us as we feel their knowledge is critical. We have a great tech to doctor ratio and rely on our tenured technicians for all kinds of procedures like catheter placement, sample collection, anesthesia induction, surgery prep, and more. We also currently accept students from all over the US in veterinary technician and DVM externship programs!
We utilize all the best veterinary equipment and technologies like:
- In-house laboratory and pharmacy
- Boarding and Grooming Facilities
- Hydraulic cattle chute
- Foot table
- Equine stocks
Full and part-time positions are available. A typical full-time schedule consists of 3 – 3.5 rotating twelve hour shifts per week as we are open from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday – Friday and 7 am to Noon on Saturday.

About the area:
Waverly is a very neighborly community about an hour west of Nashville. Residents here have an outstanding quality of life. There is a vibrant downtown with restaurants, shopping, and a movie theater and tons of outward recreational/green spaces. There is a strong local economy and our school systems/medical facilities are top of the line. Being so close to Nashville, it is very easy to access those larger city amenities and enjoy their world-renowned music scene.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
