Job Summary: The Dean for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences has oversight responsibility for the planning, administration, evaluation and improvement of the academic and administrative programs, services, and functions of the College. The Dean provides leadership to the faculty and staff in maintaining an excellent program of instruction consistent with the mission of the University. The Dean also has management oversight for curriculum development, accreditation, budget administration, and university advancement. The Dean will maintain an office on the Jackson campus and will help supervise the programs and personnel for the Nursing programs on all three of Union’s campuses.

- Supervise the development, planning, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of all academic curricula and programs, support services and administrative functions of the College.
- Provide leadership in the hiring of faculty and staff for the College.
- Advance research, scholarly and creative activity within the College.
- Develop annual budget requests with input from Associate Deans and Chairs/Directors.
- Carry a teaching load of six semester-hours during each 12-month academic year.
- Maintain collaboration with the Associate Deans and Chairs of the College.
- Demonstrate Christian standards and apply Christian attitudes in relationships with faculty, staff, students and student-cohorts.
- Maintain administrative and nursing skills and knowledge at acceptable levels.
- Participate in campus and community activities.
- Approve acceptance of all prospective students into the College.
- Oversee the assignment of faculty advisors for students.
- Collaborate with other College/School Deans and serve as an active member on the Academic Deans’ Council.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost/VPAA and President.
Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an earned Doctoral degree in Nursing is required. Five years of professional related experience that includes a combination of both clinical experience as a registered nurse and/or experience as a nursing educator is required. Candidates should also have experience in academic leadership roles. Demonstrated eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Tennessee is also required.
Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission, and Core Values.
Physical Requirements: The work performed by this position is of a general office/administrative nature. It requires the ability to operate a computer and communicate effectively.
