The EHS Intern will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety team in promoting a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves assisting in the implementation of safety programs, conducting inspections, and helping with compliance initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of EHS management, contributing to the overall safety and environmental objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Inspections: Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the facility to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and Husky policies.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Organize and analyze data related to chemicals and environmental impacts.
- Training Support: Help in the development and delivery of EHS training programs for employees. Maintain records of training sessions and track employee certifications.
- Compliance Assistance: Support the EHS team in ensuring the organization complies with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations. Assist with the preparation of documentation for audits and inspections.
- Environmental Monitoring: Assist in environmental monitoring activities, such as air quality testing, waste management, and water sampling. Help in tracking and reporting environmental performance metrics.
- Project Support: Work on special EHS projects as assigned, which may include developing safety communications and improving safety processes.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties, including maintaining EHS records, filing reports, and organizing safety committee meetings.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of EHS principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
