Major Rugby is one of the largest suppliers of generic prescription (Rx), over the counter (OTC) and vitamin, mineral and supplement (VMS) products. Offering products under both the Major and Rugby brands, two of the core private labels under the Cardinal Health umbrella, Major Rugby provides a robust product portfolio of over 1,000 SKUs. Over 60 years strong, the Major and Rugby brands combined play a significant role in reducing the cost of medication and ensuring quality care.
The Sr. Product Manager, Pharmaceutical Product Development and Portfolio Management will be a subject matter expert in pharmaceutical product development, responsible for lifecycle management of the current commercial/consumer portfolio of OTCs, VMS, and the Rx portfolio of products. Additionally, this person will be responsible for pipeline development including researching and proposing new products based on the growth-based strategy of the organization.
Location - Fully remote (ideally targeting individuals in EST, based on geographical location of team members)
Responsibilities
- Assess current portfolio performance and work cross-functionally to achieve growth objectives for market share and operating income growth.
- Identify portfolio lifecycle enhancements/changes (new strengths, pack size, discontinuations, etc.).
- Research and identify generic OTC, VMS, and Rx (unit dose) product launch opportunities for both the commercial (Retail & Acute) and consumer markets (eCommerce) through analysis of industry, market trends, competitors, and customer needs assessment.
- Collaborate with the sourcing and project management teams to identify and bring new products to launch.
- Develop and own the commercial & consumer Stage Gate form and present recommended products for launch to a cross-functional team for approval.
- Work with marketing and sales to promote new products and base business as needed.
- Monitor category trends for new product innovation and recommend changes to the portfolio product line to increase profit margins.
- Analyze and report on product category growth trends and market share assessment for competitors within each category.
- Conduct competitive assessments including competitor new product launches, brand to generic launches, and discontinuations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions, providing insights and recommendations for portfolio enhancements.
- Leverage secondary market research and supporting analytics to identify product portfolio opportunities and competitive threats.
- Translate customer insights (VoC) into product strategies that drive category performance.
- Provide product support and input regarding various marketing and sales initiatives (i.e., sales promotion opportunities).
- Respond to internal and external customer queries regarding new product opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience researching, launching, and managing a portfolio of healthcare and/or pharmaceutical products is highly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in a related field (Pharmaceuticals) is ideal.
- Experience with analyzing third-party data sources such as IQVIA and Nielsen is preferred.
- Extensive data analytics experience, including proficiencies in Excel and Alteryx, is preferred.

- Demonstrate strong financial acumen and logical decision-making in the general business environment.
- Work effectively across cross-functional groups including sourcing, inventory, marketing, operations, and sales.
Anticipated Pay Range $119,800.00 - 171,100.00 USD
Bonus Eligible - Yes, 15% MIP annually
