The PA is responsible for providing surgical assist and inpatient rounding for General Surgery and Gynecology patients. Postoperative care and medical management services that are consistent with the standard of care provided by the supervising physicians are provided in the outpatient setting. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Master’s degree in PA studies from an ARC-PA accredited PA program.
License/Certifications: Current state license in good standing. DEA certificate with prescribing privileges. Certified Surgical First Assist. BLS certification.
Experience: Minimum of two years PA experience required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with and educate patients and families of all ages in a user-friendly manner.
Skill in time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking, and other organizational matters.
Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a PA.
Strong computer skills with skill in using an electronic medical record.
Knowledge and support of initiatives which promote high quality health care services.
