If you are interested in working for the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, we invite qualified candidates to apply for our Therapist I, II position in the Mobile Health Clinic.
The Therapist I/II for the Mobile Health Clinic will provide psychosocial assessments, treatments, and services, as well as referral/coordination and case management to clients presenting with emotional, behavioral, substance use and related types of disorders. The Therapist II will work with individuals and often families on prevention, stabilization, recovery or enhanced functioning or well-being, or full self-sufficiency, to help them attain better social, emotional, physical or mental health. Guides/leads lower-level staff in clinical or non-clinical matters; may fill in for team supervisor on a recurring basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Elicits critical client-specific information that focuses on the assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of somatic illnesses, mental health illnesses, substance use issues, emotional disturbances, or social issues.
- Plans and provides psychosocial treatment services to assist clients and to help them attain better social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment.
- Provides advanced and specialized person-centered, holistic clinical case management, follow-up, and care coordination to clients and families of clients.
- May lead, coordinate, or contribute to the achievement of established program goals and objectives through data analysis, policy and procedure development to ensure quality standards and safety standards.
- Prepares and maintains client records involving progress and contact notes, internal and external correspondence.
- Provides therapeutic, social, and human services work leadership to the Mobile Health Clinic team.
Therapist I Level:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counselling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related Behavioral science field.
Experience: None.
Equivalency: None.
License Requirement:
One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment, and maintained by the employee:
- Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).
- Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC).
- Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT).
Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.
Therapist II Level:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one’s professional licensing.
Equivalency: None.
License Requirement:
One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee:
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);
- Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);
- Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);
- Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland;
- Licensed Psychologist.
