Fluidra is seeking a Lab Manager for Product Development at our Taylor Water Technologies site on Sparks, MD.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
The Manager of Product Development (MPD) will provide project management and oversight for designing and developing new products, techniques, and methodologies and revising or modifying existing ones. The MPD will oversee the efforts of the Product Development Scientists and coordinate product development work with product management, quality control, and production. The MPD may also design and develop new wet and dry analytical methodologies, techniques, and products for water quality monitoring.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Project management
- Oversee and coordinate work done by Product Development Scientists
- Work with Production to ensure fit between product and process
- Work with the Manager of Quality Control / Product Support to transfer new products from R&D to Production
- Supervise Xpress Flex calibrations and publish updates to test files
- Product development and testing
- Oversee new product, equipment, and method development
- Oversee the development of product improvements
- Design and develop new wet and dry analytical methodologies, techniques, and products for water quality monitoring
- Perform final testing and verification of all new products, equipment, and methods
- Documentation
- Document projects per SOP-002
- Work with the Manager of Quality Control / Product Support and the Quality department to develop and implement required documentation (Inventory Authorization forms, reagent preps, work instructions, and quality control procedures).
- Personnel Development
- Work with the PDSs to develop their technical acumen.
- Verify all work is documented in approved laboratory notebooks
- Work with the Regulatory Support Chemist to develop documentation for regulatory compliance requirements (SDSs, CoAs, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees may be preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience in project management, preferably in product development within a relevant industry such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, environmental science, or water quality monitoring.
- Experience overseeing and coordinating the work of a team, including Product Development Scientists or similar roles.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and testing new products, methodologies, and techniques, particularly in wet and dry analytical methods for water quality monitoring.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements related to product development and testing, including SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and CoAs (Certificates of Analysis).

- Strong project management skills, including prioritizing tasks, allocating resources effectively, and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality control, production, and regulatory support.
- Proficiency in documentation practices, including adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory notebook protocols, and regulatory documentation requirements.
- Technical proficiency in analytical methodologies, equipment, and techniques relevant to product development and testing in water quality monitoring.
- Leadership skills to mentor and develop technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Regulatory Knowledge
- Understanding regulatory requirements governing product development and testing, including knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

The expected salary range is $70K—85K per year.
