Description:
This position demonstrates service excellence and positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others including patients of all ages, families, employees, medical staff, volunteers, and community members to maximize communication and productivity. Coordinates patient flow through the patient access area to assure timely registration and arrival to service area. Interacts and works cooperatively with patients of all ages and ancillary departments to assure patient satisfaction. This position may require deployment of legal, ethical and compliance related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department as well as throughout the hospital to address patient questions or concerns.
Estimated pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.30 / hour depending on experience.
Qualifications:
Degrees: High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper
Additional Qualifications:
- Pass filing test with a minimum of 90% score.
- Typing/Data entry test with a minimum score of 25 wpm.
- Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Desired: Knowledge of Health Care regulatory guidelines to include but not limited to HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.
- Knowledge of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certification.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work weekends when necessary.
- Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
