Responsible for diet education for patients, family, and community. Screens and assesses patients for nutritional needs including enteral and parenteral feedings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Current certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Current license through the Louisiana Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition.
Customer service skills by dealing tactfully and courteously with employees, physicians, patients, and visitors.
Compassion for every patient’s well-being.
Excellent listening skills to help understand and respond to the specific needs of each client.
Excellent verbal and communication skills to articulate the nutrition program to clients in an easily understandable way.
Highly organized.
Knowledge of how to find common food products to show to clients.
Problem-solving and analytical abilities to create effective nutrition programs for clients with challenging dietary restrictions.
Mathematical and numerical skills; mechanical aptitude helpful.
Technical expertise from obtaining a bachelor’s degree in courses in science and nutrition.
Teamwork-oriented skills, cooperating well with other members of the team.
