A Speech/Language Pathologist shall plan, direct and perform Speech/Language Pathology evaluations and care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient. Care plans shall be developed that promote restoration of function, restoration and/or development of language and cognitive skills, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, restoration and/or development of oral skills and swallowing function, and interventions that restore communication skills.
Responsibilities include the supervision of Speech/Language Pathology students and volunteers. Speech/Language Pathologists also participate in scheduling of patient treatments, multidisciplinary care planning and patient education, and team support of other areas of service besides their assigned home department.
