Position Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and organized Day Surgery RN to work in our fast-paced 23-bed Outpatient/Ambulatory Surgery Unit. You will provide exceptional pre-op and post-op care for a variety of patients undergoing Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, GI procedures, and anesthesia-supported Radiology services.
- Operational Hours: 5:30 AM - 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Typical Shifts Include: 5:15 AM - 1:45 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, and 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
- Your Shift: This position is primarily for the 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM shift, with start times varying slightly based on the surgery schedule.
Your Role as a Day Surgery RN
As part of our Surgical Services Team, you will:
- Provide Comprehensive Care: Deliver top-quality pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing a range of outpatient and same-day procedures.
- Work Across Diverse Procedures: Care for patients coming in for surgeries, interventional radiology procedures, GI procedures, and other anesthesia-supported treatments.
- Deliver Seamless Patient Experiences: Use your clinical skills to ensure patient comfort, safety, and preparedness throughout their surgical journey.
- Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to provide optimal care and support during procedures.

About Our Day Surgery Unit at OMH
The Day Surgery Unit at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 23-bed facility that cares for approximately 15 patients daily. While most patients are discharged on the same day, others transition to our critical or inpatient units as needed. The unit provides a wide range of services and plays a key role in the patient experience from admission to discharge.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse License: Active RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
- Experience in Surgical or Ambulatory Care: Preferred, though not required—candidates with strong clinical skills and a passion for surgical nursing are encouraged to apply.
- BLS & ACLS Certification: Required for this role, reflecting our commitment to patient safety and preparedness.

What You Will Do:
The Clinical Nurse is a competent practitioner who integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical experience in the care of patients and families. Care is delivered using a deliberate, systematic approach and practice is guided by increasing awareness of patterns of patient responses in recurrent situations. These nurses demonstrate a mastery of most technical skills and begin to view clinical situations from a patient and family focus as they provide professional nursing care within clinical areas/ campuses as required by staffing matrices.
What You Will Need:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse License.
- Valid American Heart (AHA) Basic Life Support ( BLS) certification.
