The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for providing intervention in the areas of articulation, language, and fluency. They will assess student needs, provide high quality speech and language therapy, and collaborate with both school personnel and families to provide services to students. The Responsibilities
u00A0u00A0
- Organizes a program that addresses school speech and language therapy goals per the studentsu2019 IEPs. u00A0
- Works cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency per the studentu2019s IEP. u00A0
- Coordinates speech and language therapy services with student services provided by other school personnel per the studentu2019s IEP. u00A0
- Maintains records of the speech and language program and prepares periodic reports as required. u00A0
- Conducts speech and language therapy screenings per the PPT recommendations. u00A0
- Administers formal and informal (ongoing & curriculum-based) assessments based upon PPT decisions. u00A0
- Analyzes and interprets information to make relevant school-based recommendations regarding the need for speech and language therapy services. u00A0
- Provides appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech and language therapy programs through consultation, trainings, and/or professional development. u00A0
- Supervises Clinical Fellows, SLP-Assistants (SLP-A) and interns, if applicable. u00A0
- Collaborates/consults with classroom teachers in the management of disorders that limits abilities to communicate verbally and perform daily functional communication. u00A0
- Manages the facilities, materials and equipment, including assistive technology if needed, necessary to the delivery of services. u00A0
- Plans evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students per the PPT process & adjusts intervention strategies based upon student performance and data collection. u00A0
- Uses evidence-based methods and techniques appropriate to stated objectives per the studentsu2019 IEP. u00A0
- Participate in Crisis Intervention Team meetings, PLCs, and weekly multidisciplinary team meetings. u00A0
- Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language-hearing and education u00A0
The Qualifications u00A0u00A0
- Masteru2019s Degree from an ASHA accredited university is required
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license/credential is required or eligible for one
- Required to travel between our Norwalk and Wallingford school programs
- Experience working with students in a school setting is preferred
- Availability for the position could be full year or just 10 months depending on the candidate
- Must u00A0 be legally authorized to work in the United States
