Director of Nursing
Position is for a small 40 max Memory Care Community.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program and current licensure in the state of Kentucky with good standing.
- Experience: Preference in the field of geriatrics either through training or experience. Prior supervisory duties in assisted living, home health, or nursing home.
- Working conditions: Office and residential setting environment; light lifting; irregular hours; routine engagement with staff, residents, and visitors.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Responsible for medication administration and proper documentation in the medication administration record.
- Responsible for providing the direct personal assistance and supervision needed by the residents, including assisting residents when necessary, on an individual basis, with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, toileting, and attending to any personal needs the residents may be incapable of or unable to attend to for themselves.
- Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing, and toilet articles, including care of body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, fingernails, and personal items.
- Supervise all resident care associates on an ongoing basis.
- Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and make a proper report of the incident.
- Provide ongoing medical care such as: giving medications, making assessments, charting, and maintaining contact with families and physicians.
- Assist with the facility's training and in-service programs.
- As Director of Nursing, responsible for the total operation of the unit and also responsible to the licensing agency and the monitoring agency for meeting and maintaining the licensure standards.
- Assist with quality assurance programs.
- Occasional, non-routine housekeeping tasks such as: wiping up a water spill, helping a resident make a bed, or serving residents at meal time and resident care.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the associate's supervisor.
- Supervise all staff of duty in the unit.
- Report any incidents/accidents to Director of Nursing timely.
- Respect HIPAA laws and maintain confidentiality.
- Provide education to staff to ensure all job duties are understood and being carried out appropriately. Writing up any staff that break the rules as listed in the handbook and ensure they understand that continued unsatisfactory performance could result in termination.
- Understand all job duties and communicate to the supervisor if you do not. You will be held accountable for those job duties and subject to reprimand if they are not performed as trained.
