The Providence Center Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides short-term care for patients experiencing an acute psychiatric and/or substance use crisis that could escalate to a point of requiring hospitalization. As an alternative to hospitalization or as a step-down for a transition between levels of care, the CSU’s services focus on stabilizing clients and addressing their mental health and substance use needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct follow-up assessments and evaluate client health care data collected through interviewing, observation, record review, and team input.
- Analyze assessment data in conjunction with Registered Nurse to formulate the basis of nursing care.
- Identify expected outcomes of care, individualized to the client, with the ultimate goal of improving the client’s overall health status.
- Administer medications per prescriber’s orders and monitor lab results as indicated.
- Collaborate with the staff members in providing care to clients.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Rhode Island licensed LPN required or Registered Nurse preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with psychotropic medication, and ability to work well with professionals from other disciplines in a team approach.
- Experience with addictions populations preferred.
- Experience with managed care populations.
